War Hysteria

I sit here and wonder what causes war

Will it happen again and why’d it happen before?

I sit here and wonder and even ponder

War’s ok down here but is it up yonder?

Last time I checked all it did was kill

Raid, pillage, and steal yet you think it’s a thrill?

I’ve got so many questions and not enough answers

Why don’t we use the money spent on war to prevent some cancers

Or maybe we could use it to feed the poor

When society’s built on war I feel the need for something more

Fox News showed the bombing of Baghdad like it was the 4th of July

Bombs, fireworks, and hot dogs, America the mighty and high

Like Kanye West we all deserve to touch the sky

But not after a kid looks at a mass grave and says bye-bye

I look at war-torn hungry kids in Nigeria

And wonder why we think of war as anything but hysteria

They say war is great, war makes money

But if they lived in it every day they wouldn’t find it so funny

I don’t believe in war under any circumstance

Call me under a trance or reeled in by Bill Dance

But either way, I don’t like to fight

People that promote peace are the real ones with might

Is war our way of being all machismo?

If we aimed for Judeo-Christian values, I think we missed

America’s thinking seems to make killing a great portion
